WHAT IS MAFIA?

Mafia is the classic hidden-role deduction game, and Fizbo runs it as narrator, so nobody has to sit out. Each player secretly gets a role: the Mafia pick someone to eliminate each night, the Doctor protects one player, and by day the whole channel votes a suspect out. The game ends when one side is gone.

HOW IT WORKS

1ROLES ARE DEALTEveryone is privately handed a role — Mafia, Doctor, Citizen, and a Detective on Plus servers. Only the Mafia know each other.
2NIGHT FALLSThe Mafia agree on someone to eliminate while the Doctor picks a player to protect.
3THE TOWN VOTESBy day the channel votes a suspect out. The game ends when one side has seen off the other.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Is Fizbo's Mafia the same as Werewolf?
Yes — Mafia and Werewolf are the same social deduction formula, and Fizbo's Mafia is that game for Discord text channels. An informed minority (the Mafia) secretly eliminates players at night, an uninformed majority votes suspects out by day, and special roles — a Doctor who protects and an optional Detective who investigates — mirror Werewolf's Bodyguard and Seer. If you searched for a Werewolf bot, this is that game under its other traditional name.
How do secret roles stay secret in a Discord text channel?
Everything sensitive — your role reveal, the Doctor’s protection choice, the Detective’s investigation — arrives as a private, ephemeral message only you can see, while the channel just sees narration like “Waiting for the Mafia to choose someone to kill...”. The Mafia’s own panel reads “You have 20 seconds to choose a civilian to kill”, with each click confirmed privately — “You voted to kill @player” — so nothing leaks until the night resolves and the bot announces the outcome.
How does the day vote work in Fizbo Mafia?
When night resolves, the whole channel votes in public. The prompt reads “You have 10 seconds to know the mafia and vote to kick them” — the time is the server’s day timer — above a grid with one button per living player, each showing its live vote count, plus Skip and Hint buttons. The verdict lands as “@player has been kicked, and this person was a mafia” — or whatever role the vote actually caught.
What does the Hint perk do in Fizbo Mafia?
During the day vote a Hint button sits under the voting grid. Buying one with Fizzy privately sends you the name of a player who may be a Mafia member — it is a strong lead, not a guarantee. Everyone else only sees a public notice that you purchased a Hint, never what it said, which itself becomes information: the table now knows you know something, and watches how you vote.
Can I customize the roles and rules in Mafia?
Yes. A custom rules table lets a server set, for each lobby size, how many Mafia, Doctors and Detectives are dealt, how many players the Mafia eliminate each night, how many the Doctor protects, and how many the town votes out each day. Separate addons toggle the Detective role, a last-round emergency vote, and a hide-identity mode. The day discussion timer is also adjustable, so rounds can be as fast or as deliberate as the server likes.
What happens when a player is killed or voted out in Mafia?
By default, death is a reveal: the bot announces the elimination and the player's true role — for example that the Mafia killed someone “and this person was a doctor”, or that the town kicked someone who turns out to be Mafia. That reveal is the game's main source of information. Servers that want a harder game can enable the hide-identity addon, which announces only the elimination and keeps the role secret.
