WHAT IS REPLICA?

Replica is a word game played in turns: Fizbo calls on a player by name with a category and a random starting letter, and they must answer in chat before their time runs out. Every answer is checked against a dictionary, so made-up words fail — miss your turn and you are eliminated, until one winner remains.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Is Replica a Scattergories-style categories word game?
Yes — Replica is Fizbo's categories game, in the Scattergories and name-place-animal-thing family. Each round has a random letter and five fixed categories: Human name, Animal, Plant, Inanimate, and Country. The twist is the format: instead of everyone writing private lists for points, players are put on the spot in the channel, one per category, and answer against a 15-second clock. A failed answer is an elimination, and the last player standing wins.
Does Replica check whether answers are real words?
Yes. Every answer is validated — it has to start with the round's letter, be well-formed, and pass a dictionary check for its category. Typing something invented that merely sounds plausible does not survive the lookup: in the preview clip a player answers a country prompt with “sylvania” and is ejected the moment the check comes back. The verdicts for a round land together, so there is a genuinely tense pause between the last answer and the results.
What happens if nobody answers a category in Replica?
By default the category simply goes unanswered and the player who failed it is ejected. But servers can enable a retry: Fizbo posts “Some categories are still open!” and re-asks the open category — same letter — handing it to a fresh player who has not been asked that round, and keeps going until it is filled. It turns a missed answer into a second act, and in the preview clip that retry is exactly how the round gets saved.
Do all players answer at the same time in Replica?
It depends on the lobby size. In smaller games the round is a queue: one player at a time gets a personal prompt — their category, the letter, and the clock — while the channel watches. In large lobbies the round switches to one group prompt, “This round’s letter is S! You have 15 seconds to answer:”, with a line per assignment, so all five categories are answered simultaneously and big games stay fast instead of waiting through dozens of individual turns.
